NJASL Fall Conference

I will participate in NJASL’s fall conference presenting two sessions and an author table. If you are joining the conference, please stop by at the author alley to say hi, or stop by my sessions! My session schedules and content below:

Visual Literacy: Reading Pictures
Monday 11:30 AM - 12:15 PM
Storytime with picture books can be an abundant resource for children to develop their visual literacy. We will explore how to integrate different components of the book including jacket, case, endpapers, and of course, pictures, into the storytime. Sample storytimes will be conducted during the session to demonstrate the ample possibilities of reading pictures.

Celebrating Inclusive Lunar New Year at School
Sunday 12 pm - 12:45 pm
The Lunar New Year celebration has become a vital part of school events, but the meaning of it is still not well-known. A brief history and cultural diversity of the Lunar New Year will be presented alongside the picture books and chapter books featuring different cultures’ celebrations of the Lunar New Year for the inclusive school library.
